Fumiya Hanamura obtained his Ph.D. from Prof. Akira Furusawa’s group at the University of Tokyo, where he focused on continuous-variable optical quantum computing. His research spans both theoretical and experimental aspects of generating and manipulating optical non-Gaussian states.
His current research focuses on theoretical modeling of spin-ensemble systems and the development of integrated quantum memories. From a broader perspective, he is motivated by combining the strong nonlinearity of superconducting circuits with the scalability of optical platforms to address long-standing challenges toward fault tolerance in both systems.
